Russian Imperial Stout

Stout - Russian Imperial

Russian Imperial Stout gets its name from the time of the Tzars in Russia. This coalblack beer was the favourite of the Russian royal family. We have interpreted this classic beer a bit in our own style with the use of peatsmoked malt and the addition of a touch of freshly brewed Colombian coffee. Traditionally stout has been used as a dessert beer, but by our experience it is a shame to pair this beer with overly sweet desserts. Try it instead together with soft, sharp cheeses or with chocolate containing at least 70% cocoa. Hornbeer Russian Imperial Stout is also excellent enjoyed on its own!

Gammalt mög från 2014(?) eller så. Hårt rostat kaffe, fin torrhet och en svag och väldigt passande rökig karaktär. Något svag kropp, men väldigt fin.

lovely storage has made this imp stout a superb one, no sweet fruity vinegar notes at all, just malt malt malt with dry cacao notes, rich think body and gentle carbonation with lots of small bubbles, wish i had a case of these left

Middels fyldig. Relativt tørr med lang ettersmak og en del bitterhet. Preg av kaffe, lakris, sjokolade, røstet malt og lett røyk.

Malty nose with some coffee notes. Pale brown head. Dark black reddish color. Slightly sweet malty and hoppy taste with some hints of bitter coffee and vanilla. Hoppy bitterness at the end. RB 2013

Över 8 års lagring. Mjuk, len men lite tam. Måhända lite svag?

Stewed coffee. Just a shade into being heavy & dark, rich enough without being overtly so. On the right of smooth, but hinting that it could rough if pushed.

Second bottle slightly more bitter than first. Sharper in bite too. A little bit of everything. Guess this one grows on you.

Completly black with a small dark brown head. Aroma is coffee galore along with hard roasted malts. Body is suprisingly mediocre compared to the powerfull aroma, has a good amount of bitter roasted notes and again fresh coffee.2008
