Beer Geek Breakfast

Stout - Oatmeal

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, many say, and if you are a beer geek there is no better way to start the day than with a powerful, complex morning stout. This is the beer that started it all for Mikkeller. Oatmeal Stout brewed with coffee and seven different kind of malt (Pils, Oat, Smoked, Caramunich, Brown, Pale Chocolate, Chocolate), roasted barley, oat flakes, hops (Centennial, Cascade), American ale yeast and gourmet coffee. Aroma is a combination of malts, caramel, chocolate and coffee. The body is medium with light coffee and chocolate flavors with a creamy texture, average carbonation and a bitter edge on the finish. A beer that goes extremely well with breakfast.

Full disclosure: I made this beer. It was my first home brew and it turned out pretty well (it did lose a bit of carbonation). I really want to taste the real one from the brewery, but overall I think I did a pretty good job! 🍻

(7/14) Wonderful aroma, good oatmeal stout with clear coffee notes and roasty.
