French Toast Bastard

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Backwoods Bastard gets the 4-star breakfast treatment. Our bourbon barrel-aged Scotch Ale is introduced to maple syrup, cinnamon, and sweet vanilla for a decadent brunch-inspired sipper. Breakfast for dinner, anyone?

Wayyyy too much maple. It’s like drinking maple syrup. No thanks

A little too sweet for a full pint but definitely full flavored.

So much going on here. It's not bad, just not my favorite. Very sweet upfront, mellow out on the finish.

Distinctive taste. Sweet, syrupy, warm - like Cinammon Toast Crunch as a beer. Glad I tried it, but just not my cup of tea for a beer.

Not my favorite, but better than a kick in the nuts

Beer Advent Day #10. It is VERY sweet but also 11% alc. Also funny as my go-to non-swearing phrase is “What the French Toast?!?”

This bastard is way too sweet for me. A lot of maple and vanilla going on. Boozy but not too strong.

Definitely maple syrup on the nose and up front. Strong too, but a good after dinner beer.

This is exactly what it sounds like. This is my wife's beer. She loves it but it is way too sweet for me. I think I'm going to need insulin.

Look what they did to my boy. The french toast additions are WAY overdone. So in-your-face it makes it hard to finish a single bottle. Backwoods deserves better.

Tastes like the syrup was scorched. Otherwise seems too sugary for my palate.

Damn bastards bastardizing french toast. This is much closer to Canadian toast.

Not too bad. Makes you feel like a fatass because the maple is so strong

Whoa! This beer is very sweet. Too sweet really. I just taste French toast and nothing else. Can’t find the bourbon. Can’t find the malt. Not my jam.

Super syrupy with a burnt-maple flavor…it wasn’t my favorite but it did have a blackstrap rum/molasses finish that I didn’t hate…but I didn’t like the body enough to justify the finish. Insert inappropriate adolescent innuendo here 😜
