Curmudgeon's Better Half

Old Ale

Curmudgeon is an old ale brewed with molasses and aged on oak; it becomes Better Half after aging—for 254 days—in bourbon barrels that have more recently been aging Michigan maple syrup. As a result, Curmudgeon’s Better Half is a bit sweeter than her miserly counterpart.

2018 bottle. What a beer! The bourbon and the maple come through hard, there is sweetness, spiciness, notes of caramel, brown sugar, dried fruits, roasted malts, orange peals and a hint of bitterness at the end. Masterpiece.

Wonderfully rich old ale, and the bourbon barrel aging is rich and succulent. Highly recommend, and a great deal at $4.00/beer. A little dried out, maybe, as it’s a 2018 variant.

Molasses and shine with this over two year aged beer. I feel like this gets better and better with age. One of the best sweet old ales on the market. Delicious!

Definitely top five. I'll probably pour it in my wife's vagina and have her squat and squirt a gulp at a time in my mouth.

Wonderful BA old ale.. the aging has improved already superb ale. High alcohol content pretty well hidden. Almost CBS feelings from the finer nuances of flavor.

This is the dessert’s dessert beer. Or as Doug would like to say, Curmudgeon’s maple whore.

Fantastic ale! Slightly sweet with perfect combination of bourbon, chocolate, and molasses! Has a strong ale-esge aftertaste reminiscent of Lagunitas Brown Shugga!

Soo fucking good. My biggest regret is only getting 1 bottle. Big molasses and sweet maple flavor up front that finishes through well.

Flot skænket, og dejligt varmende alkohol på en råkold dag! Molasse og ahornfornemmelse er tydelig, men med moderat sødlighed. Fint bud!
