Chuggin Slugger

Kentucky Common

Popular style between civil war and prohibition era. Combining two of the three official “Indigenous American Beer Styles”, this Dark Cream Ale is a hybrid of both a Cream Ale AND a California Common/Steam Beer. Brewed with lager yeast and a healthy heaping of corn, this creamy steam beer is clean and quietly complex with an interesting array of malt character, caramel sweetness, and a dry sessionable finish, making it a far cry from run-of-the-mill.

It easy to pass this off as similar to other American pilsners. I want to taste the complexity, but I’m just not getting it. It is smoother than those I suppose.

Collaboration between the two taprooms. Medium brown color, clear. Caramel and toasted nose. Caramel and biscuity / bread flavor.

Really interesting. Creamy, malty, some vaguely fruity notes.
