Disappointing. High hopes for a barley wine. Not even close. Too hoppy and no sweet notes at all. I am a big fan of Founders but this one is just bad.

Last night. I just don't agree with calling this a barleywine, it's just more disappointing when you do. Call this an Imperial Black IPA or Black Ale/Schwarzbier-ish or anything else and I'm more satisfied.

Definitely does not taste like a barleywine nor does it seem like it's over 10% ABV definitely not over 60 IBU's

Solid BW! Hope they're BA'ing some of this. Yum! Camera still sucks!

Smells both fruity and a hint of roast; big chewy malt bill and alcohol bite, sweet malts and big bitter/pineyhops; minimal roast character, more chocolate and caramel; love the big hop character like Bigfoot; nothing crazy but different enough b'wine.

Tastes more like a black ipa than a barleywine

Nice tan head that stays and a very hoppy nose. Malty and sweet but nicely balanced with the hops. Expecting to get more booze when it warms up. Great to celebrate getting another dumb project

Will have to have this one again, not exactly what I was expecting for barleywine.... dinner turned out very well!

Nothing bad, but seems like a one note beer. It's roasty with a bit of molasses and then bitter. I was expecting something with more depth.

Balanced. Subtle spice character from hops. Medium caramel flavor, notes of leather with a subtle dark roast character and a warming alcohol presence. It's alright. I might let the rest age a bit.

This is a lot, Carmel, burnt, bitter, hoppy and sweet. Don’t rate it till you are half way through. I really enjoyed it but it’s a max one per night

Roasty and thick with toffee and molasses and a nice dry finish. Great beer!

Bitter, burned taste. You don’t like this, don’t get again.

Very solid all-around. Big roasted malts and a surprising hop punch. Just a touch of sweetness.
