Velvet Rush

Brown Ale - Imperial / Double

Borrowing elements from both high-end craft cocktails and moody jazz clubs, Velvet Rush takes the bourbon barrel-aged brown ale up an octave with free-flowing notes of coffee, chocolate and vanilla extract. Milk sugar aids in weaving together this complex tapestry of flavors to create a unique sipping experience that really ties the room together.

Only way to drink brown ales is to add a ton of adjuncts and bourbon. Coffee is good but everything else feels muted. Body is pretty thin too.

A lot going on. Coffee, sweet chocolate, barrel. All fairly well balanced.

Good but not really my jam. I’d think it would be with coffee, vanilla, and chocolate but just something is missing for me. A little sweet. 11.1%

Plenty of coffee. Some sweet milk sugar. Maybe mild bourbon. ABV well hidden. Thin body. Decent

Truly velvet smooth! Nice and light especially considering it’s a bourbon beer.

Dessert in a glass. Coffee is light, like a wafting scent lilting over the chocolate and vanilla. Sweet and subtle, there's a hint of cherry or stone fruit, but I think I'm imagining it. Interested to see what cellaring might do to it.

You don’t see many double digit barrel aged brown ales. So why not give it a try? The more I drink the more I like.

Was very smooth for percent but was kinda disappointed. Got mostly coffee and not as much of other adjuncts

The flavors are good, but the brown base doesn't hold up. This cries for a strong stout base. If would be exponentially better that way.

I normally drink barrel aged stouts and was curious how different this would be. It's totally different! It's more nutty than a stout. The sweetness is ok, but I think it's too much and also too boozy. Have a second for aging. Will try again in a year
