Frootwood

Fruit Beer

We took a crisp, light-bodied cherry ale and hid it away in oak barrels that have held both bourbon and maple syrup. After a lengthy stint, it emerged a changed beer, blanketed in notes of warm vanilla and earthy sweetness. The wood proves itself the star of this beer, adding depth and taming the tart cherry while the maple imposes a velvety texture that lingers for not a moment too long.

Last one. It’s quite enjoyable and has a nice balance of BA and fruit.

I’m always on the look out for a lager similar to my favorite Cherry Rail from the now closed Cherryland Brewery. This is close. Maybe on the too sweet side. But it does have a nice cherry flavor.

Good cherry ale, barrel aging adds some nice depth. Maple finish.

Hulde voor Founders. Zelfs een cherry ale weten ze lekker drinkbaar te maken. Zoetje en zuurtje...

Very easy to drink For a barrel aged beer. Also very easy to drink considering it’s cherry. I actually liked it quite a bit. Not a style I would typically choose but I think it was very well done.

Leuk bier. Doorschijnend rood/paars met mooi wit schuim. Frisse kers, gezoet door de esdoornsiroop. Bourbon haal ik er niet uit. Wel het eikenhout van het vat. Licht zuur/rins, niet té zoet, (tannine)bittertje. Lekker!

Maybe I've become accustomed to Founders beers being BIG. This 8% ABV light colored ale is refreshing although far from what I expected from a maple syrup bourbon barrel-aged ale. Rich in flavor without being heavy.
