Backwoods Bastard (2013)

Scottish Ale

Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts, a bit of earthy spice, and a scintilla of dark fruit. It’s a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate.

How could it be that this is 10 years old! Cheers Kevin S. For sending this one my way many years ago! Pretty much at its later end of life. But still drinking great! Love this beer. Cheers everyone!

No back label, and date on neck is rubbed off. Think this is a '13. Not a big fan of aged Bastard. Everything's muted in this one. Barrel is most noticable followed by some vinous and cola flavors. Fun science experiment.

Last bottle in the cellar and held up nicely. Charred oak, burnt caramel, raisins, hint of smoke and leather and pumpernickel bread crust.
