120 Minute IPA (2018)

IPA - Imperial / Double

Clocking in at 15-20% ABV, 120 Minute IPA is continuously hopped with a copious amount of high-alpha American hops throughout the boil and whirlpool, and then dry-hopped with another pallet of hops. Unfiltered and abundently hoppy, it's the Holy Grail for hopheads! We brew 120 Minute IPA a few times a year, but it goes fast. If you find some grab a few bottles -- some to enjoy and some to age.

5 years did this good! Pure hop candy that warms the soul. Basically a barley wine at this point 😋

16.5% and Aged for five years, really smooth. Barleywine-ish and still a bit hoppy. Sweet and malty.

It has aged surprisingly well. Smoothed it out and retained more hop character than expected. Moderate alcohol warmth. Pleasant. At this point it’s a slightly hoppy barleywine but in good with that.

Took the "ages well" literally. Aged for 5 years almost to the bottled date (1 week over). Still smells great. Almost like a scotch ale. Medium mouthfeel, muted/old bitterness, a bit of smoke (very light), sweetness in the finish.

NICE! BIG, understatedly floral, & sublimely age-mellowed hops lead & carry throughout, w/ caramel, old honey, orange marmalade, fig, golden raisin, & a touch of Sherry mid-palate, & balanced brown sugar, resin, & roast @fin.

Since it’s the 120th day of the year, a 120 Minute IPA is appropriate.

Too hoppy for Christine, but way more subtle than would be expected based on how it's made.

Not cellar'd, was wondering if it was a pour out, to my amazement it was mellow with the usual Boozy heat, 3/07/ 2018 bottle date.

Bixby's Beer Reviews

Still think I’m too far down the aging curve. At this point it’s a very low carb barleywine with an intense leathery malt aroma and flavor. It’s v good but I think I’m losing complexity at this point
