Backwoods Bastard GREEN

An American made Scottish Ale served in an Old Glory glass. Because… ‘Merica! Great whiskey nose & palate: an outstanding beer. Same rating.

Backwoods Bastard GREEN

Haven’t had my paws on one of these for a minute. Great color, dark mahogany with ruby hints when held to a light. Whiskey-forward in the nose & palate. Same rating as previously.

Snowbound Vanilla Porter GREEN

Good roasty, subtle coffee nose. Very good stout character, just right bitterness, hints of coffee & vanilla. All around a good beer. I don’t think I’ve ever had anything from Founders I didn’t like.

Punkin Ale GREEN

One of my favorite Pumpkins & in the top 5 in my opinion. All the expected taste is in there. Being on Army property makes my skin burn. I should drink more to feel better…

Backwoods Bastard GREEN

My last one. Love that color & whiskey aroma. Palate is strong with the whiskey dominating. Great beer - a Scottish Ale in a glass stolen (allegedly) from a pub in Ireland… go figure. Same great beer, same great rating.

Backwoods Bastard GREEN

Got my paws on some more. Mahogany/ruby color & unmistakeable sweet whiskey aroma. Palate matches the nose & lingers a while. Great twist on Scottish Ale - Slainte!

Crimson Cru GREEN

A lot of non-sense in the description - nice color & not much aroma, but it’s very cold. Just too much rolling together to pin down anything on the palate but it almost has the slightest hint of sour. Not my thing. Withholding a rating.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge GREEN

Pitch-black with a very fudgey aroma. Initial taste is all fudge with a note of dryness/bitterness right after. I’ve had this in the past but I’m not getting the coffee or maple & the fudge seems like adjunct flavoring. Withholding a rating for now.

Dirty Bastard GREEN

They say everyone is a little Irish on St. Patrick’s Day. Except the Scottish… we’re still Scottish. At least I put it in a Guinness glass. Same rating as previously.

Dirty Bastard GREEN

Very enjoyable malty nose. I like the malty and bitterness in the taste but it’s a little too bitter for a Scotch Ale for me. Very good beer and drinkable. Same rating.

Dirty Bastard GREEN

Great color and malty aroma. Taste starts off moderately malty, has some character, and a fair dose of bittering hops. Scotch ales are generally supposed to be malt forward but can be balanced out with some hops; however, the bitterness sort of took over.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge GREEN

Oh yeah - chocolate fudge, the aroma and the flavor is strong. Bourbon right after. Same rating and opinion as previously. Not waiting for this one to warm up though.

Underground Mountain Brown GREEN

Earthy is really the best way to describe this - in the nose and on the palate. Strong barrel character.

Underground Mountain Brown GREEN

Earthy, difficult to describe aroma with maybe (?) subtle black coffee in the background. The bourbon barrel jumps right out in the first sip and walks point the whole time. The brewer’s description pretty much nails it.

Punkin Ale (2020) GREEN

One of my seasonal favorites and I’m my opinion, one of the best out there.

KBS GREEN

Subtle chocolate aroma. I’m getting much more of the bourbon barrel characteristics this time. Bumping up my rating.
