Vigneronne (2022) G.

How does a person quantify this? I’ve always felt like Lamvinus and Vigneronne are the pinnacle of the art-form. Nestled in at the top somewhere between Hommage and Alexander. This can only be a 5, if this isn’t a 5 what could possibly deserve the honour?

Rosé de Gambrinus G.

This one had some age on it (5 years), but the fruit seemed to hold in all right. A handsome, slightly funky aroma and soft sourness. When I bought Cantillon last it was between this and Fou Foune, honestly they’re both my favourites of the bunch.

Milk Stout G.

Detracting some points for the missed-opportunity “Milk-eller”. Really rocky foam that I don’t normally associate with this style. Smell is weirdly tangy. What I love about this beer is that assertive bitterness that brings that milky sweetness in line.

Fou' Foune G.

Opened to celebrate Toer de Geuze 2021... alone in my stuffy apartment. I really wanted to share this but the liquid isn’t getting younger. Bottled 2018. Theres a sweet floral smell that is really beautiful. Soft acidity, great fruit concentration.

Geuze Mariage Parfait G.

Every time I have this beer (its one of my favourites) the smell reminds me intensely of agave syrup. Theres something about the grassy aroma combining with oak that tap-dances on those neurons. Funk, acid, and sweetness are balanced. True to it’s name.

Oude Geuze Boon G.

Aroma is vinous, lemongrass, rubber and mushroom. Flavour is gamey and dank; lemon seeds, fruit skin, soggy wood and kiwi. A completely disjunct experience. I come back to this when I want to remind myself why I fell in love with beer in the first place.
