Following a Prarie Weekend, this seems thin and totally void of sweetness. After a while, the intended pepper - chocolate combo comes to life. More pepper than chocolate, but not totally out of balance. Right there with today's KBS. OK, but not special.

French Toast Bastard 2023 Poole
They've got to be using a good deal more maple syrup than I remember... They've turned their warm, boozy base into a serious stack of French toast. My real rating, 4.15

Pretty well done... Keep wrestling with rating 4 or 4.25... What the heck, I can't name a beer that uses Blueberries better than this. Round up it is...

Now that's some serious Hazelnut... (extact). Dominates the nose and big on the pallet. Would be better if this nutty adjunct were better balanced. That said, I still get the coffee (a plus) but not much barrel (not a plus). It's OK.

Not as good as the Prickly Pear, but still a nice salty Gose with solid flavor that packs a big punch (without tasting like it).

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa Poole
Cinnamon big and bold on the nose as well as front end, but I get butterscotch notes mid pallet and coffee, including some bitterness, on the finish.

The coffee explosion I expected... Matt & Donnie, don't bother, but if you like a Jolt of Joe, this'll do it. Fat with flavor, thin on body... Like many old favorites, KBS doesn't hold up to today's best Stouts, but certainly going to finish this pour.

Really easy drinking, maybe too much so... Pretty impressive for a porter.

I think I like the original Mas Agave better, but this is a kick ass monster Gose. Salty, fruity and modestly tart. Better cold, but doesn't fall off that much as it warms. And cold or cool, there's as serious warmth as it goes down. (Goes go down easy)

Light, refreshing, very modest funk, a spritz of lemony tartness and a virtually clean finish.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge Poole
Chocolaty, coffee forward, minimal maple... but it's there for sure. For a widely available stout, I'm all about it. However, if you go back to some of my earliest ratings, I'm sure I would have rated this beer much higher. (The bar continues to rise)

Backwoods Bastard (2020) Poole
WOW, So smooth for such a BIG ABV in a lighter body beer. Brewer description is perfect. Love the almost single malt start and warm boozy- bourbon finish. Can't drink this beer without thinking of Matt & Christy.
