Light citrus hops at the start leading to a nice fruitiness. There’s a thread of grass or hay before the usual hop bitterness on the back end. What is interesting is that as the bitterness fades it turns back to a citrus peel flavor that wraps it all up.

Snowbound Vanilla Porter Franklin
Aroma of sweet vanilla and chocolate with just a wisp of fresh bread. The taste is roasty and a little sweet and a little vanilla.

Entering a BBQ cook off tomorrow and I wanted a full flavor beer for my borracho bean entry. This definitely fits the bill. We’ll see how the beans turn out but for now I’m enjoying a bottle that won’t be needed in the recipe.

Chocolate covered hazelnuts on the nose, then a creamy sip of hazelnut coffee. Sip & swirl to enjoy the finish: a combination of coffee bitterness and the bite of dark chocolate.

Sharing another classic with the wife. I started her on Untappd, but now she seems reluctant to log the beers she drinks. Oh, well. At least I got the best drinking buddy I could wish for.

Wake Up World Wide Stout Franklin
Just under $40 for a 4-pack but I'm glad I got it for next week! So rich, layered & complex. I can't wait to be able to share this w/ Pete, Cathy, Beth, Pirate , Erica, and Bill H. and hash out the flavors! But with almost 15% ABV you gotta sip & swirl!

Light, thin, clean pale ale with lots of floral hop flavor. This was part of a variety 12-pack special.

Part of a variety 12 pack. Light, crisp, slightly lemony, with a pleasing corn flavor.

Super glad I grabbed this one! Nothing overpowering and yet layer after layer of subtle flavors: orange peel, wine barrel aging, spicy hops, stone fruit.

90 Minute Imperial IPA Franklin
Head-to-head DIPA taste test. Both 9% ABV. Found this in the "mix-six" rack for LESS than the relative price in a six pack! Grabbed 2. I've rated this 4.25 in the past and that rating stands in this taste test. Richer and tastier, IMO.

60 Minute IPA is my study companion today. Big hop flavor with a low enough ABV to keep a clear head.

Glad I revisited this one. Big hoppy, IPA flavor. I first ranked it against 90 min and 120 min, so I clearly (and understandably) rated it too low. It's a great IPA.

Earthy brown ale with real pumpkin and the usual seasonal spices.

I'm always glad when I revisit a beer I've had before, particularly if it's been a while. Tastes change, appreciations develop, and my scoring system gets tweaked. I used to be SUPER stingy with 4+ ratings now I'm only a little stingy. This remains solid.

A great gose (IMO). Bright, full watermelon flavor. Sweet, but not cloying. Tart, but not puckering.

Amazing aromatic medley of vanilla, chocolate, and coffee, each distinct and balanced. Each sip provides a similar flavor medley wrapped in a creamy, milk-sugar sweetness.
