Interesting. Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. Worth a single bottle purchase. Really nice classic KBS chocolate and coffee flavors dominate w a general tart berry flavor alongside. Not as sweet as I thought it would be. The finish is not good w bitterness

French Toast Bastard

Way better warmer (“basement” temp). More nuanced flavors come out. Barrel more apparent in the finish. I still think the adjuncts could be dialed back a click, but I’ll be damned if this isn’t the most French Toast-like beer I’ve had. Great aroma, too.

This is good and need to revisit another bottle, maybe a little warmer. A lot of flavor and very adjunct forward. Wouldn’t mind some more barrel and base beer coming through, though it’s not sickeningly sweet either.

Had one last one ferreted away. Such a a great beer. Balanced well, lot going on. Really a shame Founders axed this one.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge

2022 release. Holy hell this is so good. Love everything about this. Flavors really work and are balanced. Hits my prefs at least. KBS is tough to beat when it comes to good, accessible BA beers

KBS Hazelnut

It’s fine, but I’m not a huge fan of hazelnut. I think it worked better in that Frangelic Mtn. I wish Founders would’ve done a vanilla bean or coconut KBS, not just another change up of the coffee. Kinda unimaginative, tho I loved Maple Mackinack.

Woof. “Touch of wild ale” is right. Wanted more of that. In the end, this just didn’t work imo and comes off like a stale IPA. Glad I just bought a single

All Day IPA

Lol how have I not had this?! This is great fir what it is and absolutely would purchase again. Surprisingly flavorful and still gets in that IPA realm. Found a new crusher.

Aged a little and this is fantastic. I seriously don’t understand Founders sometimes. They axe this beer and CBS for some pretty questionable brands. Some of us still love classic RIS. Bring this back, then put some of it in barrels. Done.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS)

To compare, cracked this 2019 and it’s fantastic. I will never understand why they axed this beer other than the possibly not being able to get maple syrup bourbon barrels. This is more balanced and complex than most of their other BA experiments, ugh

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa

This is basically KBS plus cinnamon. Good but forgettable. Would rather get regular KBS and hopefully they bring back Maple Mackinack or CBS. Also, do a vanilla coconut KBS!!

Panther Cub (2021)

CBS but a few clicks lighter + vanilla. A drier, more toasty finish, too, which is pleasant. This is really good.

I’ll be damned if this isn’t one of the tastiest stouts out there rn. Really nailed the adjuncts. Massive coffee flavor, which I personally love, that is balanced nicely. They really dialed this one in imo

I keep checking this in hoping Founders will get the message and make it yearly. I’ll be damned if that isn’t one of the tastiest beers I’ve had. It’s like some kind of mocha-chocolate-maple-coffee candy. If this were a candle I’d burn it in my house. 🤣
