Rosé de Gambrinus Eaton-Brown
As red as the poppy on the front. Initially very sharp and sour, slowly giving way to more complex esters and a slight fruityness. Finishing with a light, sweet flourish with very little after-taste at all.

Juicy, a little thin, and certainly easy to drink. Fair fizz to it.

"Light, crisp & beautifully fresh"? Not so much. It's pretty heavy, although not thick. It's very well hopped indeed, which doesn't really make it easy to drink, and it's more dank than fresh. Almost a little hop burn to it. Hmm

Malty, but light. Strong twang of lemon rind in there. Grain, perhaps sunflower seeds. Bitter. Bucks the trend of thick, hazy contemporary pales, and that is a welcome thing. Decent.

India Pale Lager? No such thing... a collection of words which would only make sense to someone in marketing, which isn't surprising as I appalled myself by finding this on the shelves of Sainsbury's. Fruity, hopped, darker than lager but paler than IPA.

Kriek Mariage Parfait (2017) Eaton-Brown
2017 vintage. This is a special treat & no mistake. The tannins of the oak are certainly apparent, but the cherry balances them out to the point where it's actually more sweet than sour & perhaps a little darker than I expected. It's unusual but a cracker

Mikkeller pay attention to detail and it's apparent here. The raspberry is very well balanced by the wheat, and although the first sip is very sharp indeed, it spins settles down on the palate from there. Jakub J. wouldn't agree...
