KBS Espresso Smith

2021 version. Solid beer but as far as KBS goes one of my least favorite. Coffee is strong enough that it might overtake the barrel.

KBS Blueberry Smith

Nice addition to the KBS family. Blueberry is prevalent but not overbearing.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2016) 12.4% Smith

Just saw KBS is celebrating 20 years. It’s the big stout that started my admiration of the style. Cheers to 20 years of hunting all around town for a bottle or two or sending my Dad if release day fell on a workday. Glad they’re easier to get now!

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2016) 12.4% Smith

Hard to imagine that I have any left from ‘16 but I scored over a case from a small town VT store that didn’t know what they had back in a time when you could barely buy one bottle most places. Has gotten more winey than bourbon. Time to drink up 😕

Chocolate Cherry KBS Smith

Nice dark chocolate and just a hint of cherry. Still undeniably KBS.

KBS Smith

Least impressive batch I’ve ever had. And I hate the new label. Why change? Lighter almost like this beer was rushed. Very little barrel notes. Back to Barreled Souls.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa Smith

Definitely cinnamon forward. Barrel not as prevalent as the regular.

Nemesis (2021) Smith

The bitterness from the hops is a bit odd for a barleywine. That, combined with lack of barrel aging that I’m accustomed to from the Barreled Souls barleywines make for an odd flavor profile.

Panther Cub (2021) Smith

Another winner in the barrel series. Pours a nice head with a boozy aroma and a distinctly lighter mouthfeel than the stouts.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) Smith

They wouldn’t call it a breakfast stout if they didn’t want you to drink it in the morning...
