Spring Hero

I find many To Øl IPAs are quite similar. This is another soupy concoction of overripe tropical fruits, passionfruit but then brightened up with grapefruit peel. A little yeasty. Lovely thick body though!

Høøøødibøødiipa

On tap. Lovely fruity DIPA with some warmer marzipan notes. Mango, passionfruit, grapefruit peel and some candies. Distinctly Mikkeller. Best Mikkeller I’ve had in a while.

Sovs

Smooth and soft. Mango, sponge cake, and soft honeydew. Nice creamy body. Very soft and subtle overall. Some gentle citrus bitterness emerges as it warms. Pleasant but not their best or most interesting.

Mad Dash

3.85 // Sweet, honeyed and malty West Coast IPA. Honey, citrus, mango, and pineapple with some floral notes too. Clean yet grassy and slightly malty. Medium citrusy bitterness.

Specular

Fantastically sweet TIPA. Crushed pineapple in syrup, mango, creamy soft papaya with a floral quality. Maybe too sweet in the long run but smooth with little to no detection of the high ABV.

Kærlighed Spring/Summer 2023

Distinctly Mikkeller and a nice one for the summer. Bitter, crisp and thin bodied - notes of lemon and passionfruit.

Whirl Champions 2022

Massive! Complex. Hoppy, fruity and boozy. What a collab - anyone missing?! 🤔 Loads of gasoline, dank pine, grass, peach and mango. Lingering sourness. Huge body with intense flavours.

Slice of Sunshine

3.6 // Thin-bodied, citrusy IPA with big notes of bitter grapefruit peel, mango and loads of pine. There are also notes of soap and detergent! Dry, bitter finish. Helt OK.

Īta

Great to see Malmö’s Hyllie collaborating with their “next door neighbours” in Denmark. Zesty, crisp and bitter as expected with this all-New Zealand hop IPA. Grapefruit, lime and lemon all the way. There’s also an odd soapy quality too.

Fuld Skrue

Gasoline, grapefruit peel, snd soft bubblegum. Possibly the best beer I’ve had from this brewery so far.

BETAMAX

Delivers like a traditional American West Coast IPA but with a modern, unique twist. Stunning golden colouring. Both aromas and flavours are completely dominated by dank pot and loads of gasoline. Potent! Other notes are grapefruit and honey. Loved it!

Gateway

Had this on tap at a beer festival back in May, so it’s great to try it in can. Much softer, creamier and less citrusy in can. Soft mango sorbet, papaya, and pineapple ice cream with the right amount of bitterness (grapefruit peel) in the finish.

Radial

3.85 // Odd aromas of prunes, orange and red berries. Fruity and hoppy with loads of citrus, apricot, orange peel and honey together with even some odder tones such prunes and red berries. Distinct and bizarre!

Ain't Rocket Science

Nyponsoppa (rosehip), waterbased glue, and overripe mango. Best before date was July 2022 so it lost all its hops. I’m not going to rate this because it’s unlikely accurate. Systembolaget shouldn’t have beers on the shelf the same month they expire.

Blue Specks

A big, complex and malty West Coast IPA. Old school meets new school. Canned pineapple in syrup then grilled and served with mango, old-fashioned caramel and liquorice. Bold!

Centennial IPA

Smooth, malty, syrupy and sweet. Too sweet in the long run.

Net Neutral

Fantastic juicy session IPA. One of the better sessions I’ve had. Apricot, green grapes and young, not-quite-ripe pineapple.

Dank & Juicy

Just as the name says - dank and juicy. Super dank aromas and flavours. Grass, hemp, citrus and yoghurt culture.

Planetarisk Tåge

3.85 // Herbal and floral. Flavours of passionfruit, honey and loads of herbal and floral notes, including rosemary and thyme, and even some plastic. Thin-medium body, nicely balanced bitterness. My favourite from this brewery so far. Clean and tasty.

Ponder On

Soft and fruity like perfumed tropical juice. Sweet mango, sweet grapefruit, perfume, with hints of plastic. Golden colouring, dry finish, mild-medium bitterness. Maybe too sweet in the long run but otherwise incredible stuff. 👌🏻

Stjernedans

Citrus all the way. Bitter grapefruit, citrus peel, fizzy lemon drop and honey in the end. Surprisingly creamy mouthfeel. Long after swallowing, overripe pineapple notes surface. Extremely dry finish with strong lingering bitterness. 👍🏻

Hyperspaceghost

The best Gamma beer I’ve had for some time. Clean and fruity with flavours of peach, followed by fresh orange juice and canned pineapple. Well balanced sweetness. Crushable!

Marbled Colors

My first from this brewery and I’m impressed. Soft, sweet with a creamy, rounded mouthfeel. Slightly perfume-y, yeasty, with flavours of mango, canned pineapple, and hints of bubblegum. I’m even tasting sweet, malted biscuits. 😋 Delicious!

Chiral

Sweet, creamy, full-bodied IPA with nice, full mouthfeel. Deep, murky amber colouring. Apricot, pineapple, ripe mango, and sugar cubes. Orange tones as it warms up. Quality but otherwise fairly unmemorable.

Whirl Champions 2021Hazy IPA

First, look at the list of breweries involved in this collab! Hopped with Strata, Citra, and Ekuanot, it reads like a dream. Strong, bitter and boozy. Rich, hazy and soupy flavours of bitter grapefruit peel, orange, apricot marmalade, and pine. Great!

Transmodulate

I had this in a can a few months ago and it’s more or less the same on tap. Flavours of plastic, bitter grapefruit peel, white sugar granules, with pineapple ending. Thin, watery body. Not Gamma’s best.

11th Anniversary

First ever West Coast TIPA I’ve had. The taste of Christmas where every element amplified to the max. Incredibly sweet almost like a Barney wine, rich, syrup, roasted pineapple, brown sugar, orange peel, cloves and spices - smooth, decadent and potent af!

Transmodulate

Unique hop combo of Azacca, Ekuanot, Idaho 7 and Moutere. Creamy with soft, rounded tones with sharp, strong bitterness. Overripe mango, plastic (!) bitter grapefruit, pine, white sugar granules, and cantaloupe. Sweet yet prominent bitterness. Unique!

Half

Thick, creamy and smooth. Sweet with flavours of honey, overripe mango, overripe pineapple, water-based glue, and sweet marzipan. Fantastic but I preferred Gamma’s Low Slung if I’m comparing their TIPAs.

Amulet

Amarillo, Citra, El Dorado hop combo! Beautifully, creamy and soft, with a pillowy mouthfeel. Lush, soft flavours of sweet papaya, overripe mango, some bubblegum, competed by piney and grassy bitterness. Majestic!

Tidligt Og Silde

Sabro hops always add something interesting. 👌🏻Sharp, hoppy, refreshing, strong bitterness & powdery dry finish. Aroma of coconut, flavours predominantly of mandarin, then grapefruit, unsweetened pineapple, pear, even some herbal & coconut notes. Great!

Happy Hoppy Viking

Super sweet and boozy TIPA. More like a barley wine than the TIPAs of today. Malty, bready and sickly sweet with flavours of caramel, syrup, honey, apricot marmalade, schnapps and hints of unsweetened, bitter chocolate. Potent - one to share!

Midsummer Dream 2021

More a pale ale than a lager with rich tropical flavours, made even tastier with its prominent maltiness. Flavours of grilled pineapple, apricot, caramel malts, ending with a bitter finish. Really good - my favourite in their Midsummer series so far.

K:rlek Vår/Sommar (2021)

Twice a year, I look forward to the seasonal releases of this beer. During last weekend’s 20 degree weather, this beer - chilled - hit the spot. Crisp, sharp with distinct bitterness. Accents of pineapple, mango, rosemary as well as tasty, bready malts.

Hop Opera

I knew straight away this was brewed at To Øl City. Soooo distinctively To Øl - Mikkeller doesn’t usually brew thick, warm, creamy NEIPAs. Thick and juicy. Soft, delicious honey, pineapple and mango. Couldn’t detect the high ABV! Good stuff.

Double Dippy Doo

Fantastic DDH NE-IPA, super smooth, thick body with a full mouthfeel. Mango, passionfruit, pineapple flavours and welcomed bitter grapefruit tones to cut through what would otherwise be a tropical smoothie!
