French Toast Bastard Smith

This tastes like the old packets of McDonald’s honey. But I always liked the old packets of McDonald’s honey…

KBS Hazelnut (2022) Smith

Not historically a big hazelnut guy but here it really magnifies the coffee and chocolate, and adds a little peanut buttery aftertaste. Not my favorite variant but I’d definitely buy again. 🍻

Utopias Barrel-Aged World Wide Stout (2022) Smith

Weird but great! Boozy stout with a big IPA bite. This is going to hurt.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge Smith

My favorite of the KBS variants so far. Aging for a hair over a year narrowed it down to sweet chocolate, a little coffee bitterness, and bourbon. Great new or old.

Frootwood Smith

I think I liked this more in theory than in execution. It’s so sweet and fruity it borders on tasting like a mixed drink with a goofy name. I get no bourbon, little syrup, just an artificial cherry flavor. Pass on a second round.

Nemesis (2021) Smith

One of the better barleywines I’ve had. Sweet on the front end, bitter hoppy finish. I hope this ends up in the regular rotation.

Velvet Rush Smith

Another great entry in the Barrel Aged Series. Bitter coffee followed by milk sugar sweetness. Hope they add this to the yearly rotation.

Underground Mountain Brown Smith

It’s no KBS, but it’s pretty good. Aged for another year in the basement leaving mostly coffee and a hint of bourbon, but not much else really.

Bottle Shop Series Highball Drifter Smith

Heavy on the fruit with a little alcohol burn. Not much else going on for me.

Goliat Bourbon Barrel Aged Smith

High marks for taste but zero buzz from a supposedly 13% ABV stout

Mine Is Bigger Than Yours Smith

The name is pretty cringey but the beer is pretty solid. Definitely puts the wine in barleywine, flavor-wise.
