Fou’ Foune (2022)

A delicate and masterfully done classic. Apricot mild golden sour. Better even than the beer is this venue, the owner, the patrons and ambience. This sprawling bottle shop is unbelievably impressive (literally 1,200+ options) and the owner a true phenom.

Centennial IPA

Old school IPA. Strong malty backbone, pine, slightly floral, subtle lemony notes.

Sweet Repute

Sweet and syrupy, fruity, definitely boozy.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2022)

Not sure if (a) this beer has become more “meh”, (b) other beers have become more “yay” or (c) my tastes have just changed. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Dark roasty stout, bittersweet chocolate, coffee, and a medium amount of barrel treatment.

Rosé de Gambrinus (2017)

A foamy pour with this still very much alive beer. Deliciously tart and bursting full of raspberry fruit. Nice funky finish. This aged spectacularly.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa

Roasted coffee, sweet cinnamon vanilla. I did not get as much cocoa, and unfortunately the bourbon was barreled over by the adjuncts.

Kentucky Bourbon Stout (KBS) (2021)

LCI. Not sure if this year is not as good, my tastes have changed, other breweries have caught up, or something else but I was less impressed than in prior years. Roasty, coffee, BBA and pretty smooth but almost a bit more meh?

Nemesis (2021)

Starts out well, malty sweet caramel, but hops are way overdone. While American style calls for more bitter hops than English variety, this finishes with harsh aftertaste that lingers like an unwelcome guest who’s overstayed. Cellar (1 year?) to mellow.

Campfire Amplifier

Underwhelming flavors is probably too kind. I sent out a search party and I think I kinda sorta might have found a smidge of one adjunct. Good base milk stout underneath but a big swing and a miss vs. intent. Ironic the name includes “Amplifier!”

Underground Mountain Brown (2020)

Carmel, coffee and more subtle but nicely blended BBA notes.

Dirty Bastard (2020)

You will be rewarded if you let this warm. Malty, caramel, boozy scotch ale.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2020)

LCI. A little lighter on the coffee than I recall but still a great bourbon blend, chocolate roasty stout.

Más Agave Grapefruit

LCI. Preferred the original version. This one was a bit too sticky and sweet for me. Still tastes close enough to a margarita but I guess just not the kind I would ever order.

Marvelroast

LCI. I definitely prefer regular stouts versus “blonde stouts” but for the style this is probably my favorite so far. Coffee, vanilla, some caramel, definitely sweet, and almost creamy smooth.
