Interesting combo. Grapefruit heavy. I also get the agave vibes. It deviates a bit from hop derived flavors. In that way I get the additive vibes. Beer but not “purest beer”. I’m enjoying this. Summer vibes. Good not great.

The fruits felt “overripe” giving an odd sweet, clawing taste. Hops were subtle. A bit of a disappointment.

Very sweet stout with a noticeable blueberry tart edge. Very smooth. Vanilla pancakes dripping with blueberry syrup vibes. Very good. Not the best KBS, but no slouch either. Satisfying and I’m age will cut the sweetness a bit.

2021 batch. Coffee heavy with smooth edges. Sweet forward with light rounded bitterness from the coffee & hops. It’s mind bending how little booziness there is. This is 18% ABV and still feels like silk. Masterpiece.

Sweet citrus hazy. Effervescent pallet fading to bright tangy bitterness on the aftertaste. Something off putting about the blend. Like a orange chewable vitamin aspect hidden somewhere among the haze. Parts of this that are outstanding and others, trash.

Smooth imperial IPA softened with rich deep malts. Absolutely wonderful. And a go-to for me because of the price and availability.

Clean unadulterated hop experience. Not a lot of bells and whistles which is refreshing. Just a good IPA w/o haze w/o dank. A purist pale ale. Let the hops do the talking. Bitters are the main stay but they’re fleeting. You can turn your brain off & sip

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge Elias
A chocolate lovers dream. Thick rich liquid chocolate. The booziness is very light compared to its high 11 ABV. Extremely smooth, creamy, and dense. Very decadent, very good.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa (2021) Elias
An absolute treat. Wonderful blend of vanilla, cinnamon, cocoa, and coffee in that order.

If there’s one beer genre that eludes me, it’s sours. I usually can’t appreciate them at all. Mix of tart, sour, and citrus. Very lime forward. Very light. It’s refreshing and balanced. The only problem I’m not partial to sour. Not my glass of beer.

The way it hits is almost like a mead. This is 11-22 batch so only aged 6 months. I think time will improve it. It’s all sweetness and heft now. Even young, the booziness is subtle for a nearly 13 ABV under the wall of malts and maple. Overly sweet.

Not a big malty or red ale fan. But this one shocked me. Way above my expectations. It’s exceptional for this genre. Malts are darker, has some hoppy bite, and a uniqueness. Not sure what it is exactly. It states smokiness, but I’m not convinced that’s it

Another hit from Founders! Dark fruit based strong ale with a hint of woods and darkness. Well rounded and comforting sipper. From first sip to aftertaste, this one is a winner.

Light fresh hoppy IPA session. Crisp hops, maybe a touch of citrus and pine. Very refreshing and clean. Not much too this one, but sometimes less is more. One of my favorites to sip on in Summer or when I’m playing chess with friends.

So damn coffee heavy. Smells of freshly roasted beans. Sips sweet and smooth. Drinks full but less heavy than it’s 12% ABV. Admittedly I have a soft spot for coffee stouts and this not only tugs, but tears at my heart strings. My advise, stock up!

Nose is dark, boozy sweetness. Initial taste is rich and with coffee heavy sharpness, then the stout sweetness comes in hugging the tongue for a longtime even after the swallow, finally slow fading to gentle bitterness. Warming. Strong.
