KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa

Not bad. All Founders stouts are good, but I’d pit this a notch down from most of the other KBS varieties. Need more vanilla. Still though, an above average brew.

Imperial Stout

This and Marshal Zhoukov’s from Cigar City are probably the best 2 classic Russian Imperial Stouts that I know of. I’d give Founders the slight edge on taste, Zhoukov the nod on body/mouthfeel. I’m sure one of these deserves a 4.75, just not sure which.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2018)

CBS is probably Founders best beer, which is saying a lot as every beer they make is good, many of which are great. The only thing I could use more of with this is slightly more charred oak & bourbon flavors. Other than that, CBS is close to perfection.

Breakfast Stout

One of my go to beers for years, in fact my favorite beer for some of those. Fantastic for anyone who likes coffee stouts, but there’s one flaw - this needs a thicker, creamier mouthfeel and body. Add some viscosity, and we’d have an upper echelon stout.

KBS Hazelnut (2022)

All Founders stouts are good, and this is no exception. However, with the possible exception of CBS, Founders KBS iterations don’t match the OG KBS. Still a high quality beer. Hazelnut flavor is pretty strong here - thankfully I am a hazelnut fan.

KBS Espresso

Great beer. This is almost as good as the original KBS. The only negatives I can find are maybe a little too much coffee and slightly too thin in body. Overall a super solid barrel aged imp stout though. Not top top tier, but close.

KBS

KBS has been a regular in my stout rotation for years. Such a great blend of coffee and bourbon flavors. Perfect head/lacing, which I’ve found is a characteristic common to almost all Founders brews. One of the best representations of the BBA stout style.

Backwoods Bastard

This barrel aged Scotch ale is likely my favorite beer in the world. Caramel, oak, Scotch & bourbon flavors perfectly done. We need more barrel aged Scotch ales around, because they don’t get much better than this.
