Oh now this is an interesting one! It’s got a sweet caramel-maple syrup burn, right off the top. Sticky and boozy at 12.8%.

I have had a really hard time smelling beers lately, but the maple comes through strong with this one! It’s much sweeter than Backwoods Bastard, as expected. It’s creamy and boozy. Usually this is a recipe for a 5 from me. But I still prefer the original.

Bottle Shop Belgian Twist Arslan
The blue agave nectar is an odd sweetness. I’m not sure if I like it or not. But it’s got a nice bit of maltiness.

Bottled 9/17/14 - I am getting a lot of dark fruit and malt. It’s very boozy (18% ABV) and masks almost all of the extreme level of hoppiness (fine in my book). There is a burn, like a fine liquor, that coats my tongue. This dark, aged beer is excellent.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa Arslan
There’s a lot going on here. It’s full bodied & full of flavor. There’s alot of cinnamon and bourbon, with a hint of vanilla and chocolate. The cinnamon & bourbon is such a weird taste combination to me. I like the high ABV though.

It’s so complex, with the bourbon, coffee, chocolate, and vanilla, all coming through in equal portions. None of this “hint of” crap. And man is it boozy. Founders doesn’t disappoint!

Lots of sweet raspberry, with a little bit of a tart finish. Not boozy at all. I was hoping it was more complex though.

Bottle Shop Nemesis Release 01 Arslan
I’ve never had a hoppy and bitter Barleywine. I’m not a fan sadly. I do like that it’s boozy and malty though. The bitterness is just overwhelming.
