Typical of Founders, the taste is bold and coffee forward. The chocolate is more retiring but slightly sweet. The beer is labelled “double chocolate coffee oatmeal stout” but coffee notes seem to dominate. Never had anything from Founders I disliked.

Just short of perfection. I rated it 4.5 only because nothing is perfect although KBS Brewing may be close. Another barrel-aged Imperial Stout with coffee, chocolate, and cherry notes. Location: Somewhere in Arkansas.

KBS Spicy Chocolate (2023) Thrasher
Everything I’ve tasted from Founders Brewing has been exceptional but their Spicy Chocolate wins honors. A barrel-aged Imperial Stout made with coffee, chocolate syrup, and chili peppers. Only thing better is their Chocolate Cherry.
