Beer Geek Breakfast

Stout - Oatmeal

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, many say, and if you are a beer geek there is no better way to start the day than with a powerful, complex morning stout. This is the beer that started it all for Mikkeller. Oatmeal Stout brewed with coffee and seven different kind of malt (Pils, Oat, Smoked, Caramunich, Brown, Pale Chocolate, Chocolate), roasted barley, oat flakes, hops (Centennial, Cascade), American ale yeast and gourmet coffee. Aroma is a combination of malts, caramel, chocolate and coffee. The body is medium with light coffee and chocolate flavors with a creamy texture, average carbonation and a bitter edge on the finish. A beer that goes extremely well with breakfast.

Strong coffee flavor. Needs a bit more malt to even it out

Decent. Not as good as I thought it would be. I've had better from Mikkeller

Roasty but still fairly sweet. Having with waffles that also contain some of this beer.

Dry, seems a little bitter/tingly from high ibu’s. I can feel the oats in the body which is nice, but creaminess is dissolved from dryness/bitterness at the finish. No coffee flavor from malt which is surprising.

Very strong. Very stouty. Too stouty for Mary. Almost too much for me.

It’s real treat is the roasted coffee undertones throughout and that linger with the aftertaste. Creamy and full mouthfeel. The rest is solid but nothing to write home about

Made a mistake an had this in the fridge, but the tastes only really stood out, as it slowly warmed to room temperature. Great coffee taste. The oats are in there somewhere as well!

Not sure I'd have this at breakfast but a very nicely made coffee stout it is. Dry and malty finish.
