French Toast Bastard

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Backwoods Bastard gets the 4-star breakfast treatment. Our bourbon barrel-aged Scotch Ale is introduced to maple syrup, cinnamon, and sweet vanilla for a decadent brunch-inspired sipper. Breakfast for dinner, anyone?

A little too sweet for me. I’m sure if you’re a sweet malty sugary beer lover, this is for you…but not for me.

That is an....interesting flavor. If you like maple syrup, that's what flavor hits the most to me, but a bit overwhelming.

A bit too heavy handed with the maple sweetness and cinnamon. CBS and Better Half are much more subtle with the maple barrel note vice the cloying smack of sweetness and somewhat harsh cinnamon.

The scotch is very strong. Tastes like french toast and scotch. Not bad

Would have been better with less maple. But I get it, that was the point.

WOW. Marie says “it tastes like a state fair”. Lincoln “it smells like French toast and McDonald’s on a really cold November morning”. It taste literally like French toast. Good but idk if I could drink a whole one

Eh. Light mouthful, shocking for an 11%er. But waaaay too sweet and all I taste is maple syrup.

Smells good. I’m getting a spicy taste. Like maybe too much cinnamon? I swear it has a slight Tabasco flavor

Tried this last night. An odd burnt coffee taste just took over the other flavors. Got a little better as the beer warmed, but still wouldn't try it again.

Strange. Not sweet but lots of vanilla and cinnamon and a little maple. Tastes like Christmas time.

Remember when you were in home-ec and you were making French toast? That's how this smells. However, the cinnamon isn't what I wanted. It's wet and a bit cloying.
