French Toast Bastard

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Backwoods Bastard gets the 4-star breakfast treatment. Our bourbon barrel-aged Scotch Ale is introduced to maple syrup, cinnamon, and sweet vanilla for a decadent brunch-inspired sipper. Breakfast for dinner, anyone?

Maple syrup and cinnamon sugar flavors. It's good but glad I'm splitting it with Mike, very sweet.

Pours dark brown with a thin head Leaves a nice lacing on the glass Strong maple and sweet aroma Tastes exactly like a rich thick syrupy slab of French toast Pretty thick body and incredibly warming

Very sweet, heavy maple syrup flavor and aroma, a bit too much so for me and lingered well after finishing.

Smells like super sugary French toast. Luckily not nearly as sweet in flavor. Lots of cinnamon flavor that is sweet but not overbearing. Boozy towards the end. Slight herbal medicinal notes to it but not much. Pretty good.

The name is very appropriate. I'm getting maple, cinnamon, maple, some barrel funk, maple, a hint of vanilla, and maple.

It starts with maple, then slides into vanilla and finishes with that good old Bourbon Barrel aged taste. No not drinking all day just wanted a good first beer this year

Huge amount maple aroma and flavor. Boozy but still fairly smooth. Quite sweet but enough bitterness to balance.

Wow... a very sweet and full-body scotch ale with a heavy vanilla maple flavor and a strong hint of bourbon. Definitely an after dinner dessert beer, and one a day is probably more than enough.

Another porch share from Marc W., what a way to end the week! This is super breakfast syrupy sweet but with a rich bourbon BA kick on top of the already spicy scotch ale; so yeah, a LOT going on here. New pack rips to finish the evening.

Tasty, sweet and sticky. Heavy on the maple flavor, it really is like bottled French toast. Except it’s more fun than, at 11.1% ABV.
