French Toast Bastard

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Backwoods Bastard gets the 4-star breakfast treatment. Our bourbon barrel-aged Scotch Ale is introduced to maple syrup, cinnamon, and sweet vanilla for a decadent brunch-inspired sipper. Breakfast for dinner, anyone?

Good variant but the maple is maybe a little artificial.

A strong maple and vanilla on the nose. Maple, vanilla combine with a slight cinnamon spice. The barrel aged does come thru on the finish. But is not boozy at all.

Wow, been a couple of years since I had this one. Remember getting a growler fill of this one. Essentially French toast in a bottle. Plenty of maple syrup flavor. Let this one warm up a little. Boozy goodness!!

Oh, that’s really nice. Not a big cinnamon fan, but this works. The adjunct work really well with the Scottish ale. Went for the 4-pk and I’m glad for for.

Sweet, spicy heat. Big Cinnamon, maple, and Bourbon with a hint of vanilla.

Great after dinner beer. Not too sweet but a little heavy on the cinnamon for my tastes.

I really hate the premise here, but the flavor of maple cinnamon and French toast (cereal) is actually spot on and the base is malty and dry and not saccharine sweet. It ends up being a lot more balanced than a pastry stout. Still prefer the base.

Love all the adjunct flavors, but wish it was a stout instead of a scotch ale

It’s all there. The barrel aged bastard with maple, cinnamon, and vanilla. Wish it was a touch thicker.
