Tank Bender

Bock - Eisbock (Traditional)

Tank Bender is our first foray into the rare style known as eisbock. This style involves freezing water off the beer, resulting in ultra-concentrated flavor, deeper body and, in our case, a bent tank from collapsing ice. A liberal addition of Munich malt highlights the toasty and dark fruit notes while a stay in bourbon barrels tames those intense flavors.

Very lively upon opening and gushed everywhere. A murky brown color with a small tan cap of foam. Smells of raisins, dates, figs and some bourbon. The taste is very sweet and fruity with dates, figs, raisins, plums, a bit of barrel. A very dry feel.

Dude...this was worth the wait. A 2017 bottle of bourbon barrel aged eisbock proved itself worthy of a 4+ rating. Smooth as a slip n’ slide but hefty as a quality trash bag. So smooth and drinkable and a true treat for any stout lover.

My first eisbock, wonder what it would be like without the bourbon barrel.

Because sometimes a Saturday, when the kids are asleep, is the best reason to drink a beer like this! Great bourbon flavor, didn't realize it was 15%...

National beer lovers day. Drinks like a bigger backwards bastard. Boozy. Caramel. Thick. 3 years old. Purchased at Founders. Brewery trip in GR with the wife.

My opinion on this beer remains unchained after 3 years. A bigger sweeter backwoods bastard. The booze has died down and drinks much smoother than 15%. This is probably a 4.25 beer but for nostalgia and hitting the spot today.... 4.5
