Backwoods Bastard (2011)

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts, a bit of earthy spice, and a scintilla of dark fruit. It’s a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate.

Little oxidation, lost its complexity.. but it's sweet and had a descent flavor even at 11 years old

I think it is a 2011. Not perfect (a slight dead space of sorts in the finish), but drinking pretty great still at this age.

10 years old! Very smooth. But lost some complexity and depth.

Probably past it’s prime, but still an oak-laden caramel delight.

Best of the 4, but still oxidized and boring.

Alot more maltiness > barrel notes...raisins, dryness and bitterness...rasberry flavor on back end...weird

2009 wasn’t bad, 2010 was good but I think 2011 was the best one!
