Barleywine is Life. But this BW is a good example of why I much prefer English style BW to American. This is aggressively hopped and the bitterness and pine clashes too much with the roasted malts for my preferences

I like the darkness of this beer, it's just a little bitter for me. A fun pick, though!

Very complex! Slight sweetness in a bitter drying base with a burn finish! Not like other BWs. Go Bruins! #GIAG™️ #FOUTR™️

This beer is hard to describe, like someone dumped an west coast IPA and a roasty stout and mixed it into a barley wine. I probably should have aged it to smooth out the edges

Despite it having a good amount of hops to balance the extra malty flavor, it doesn't really have a balance. It's extra sweet up front, and nom pleasantly bitter on the back end of the palate.

Solid Barleywine. Founders really stepped it up with this one.

Sort of like a barely wine. Lol. Glad its high gravity

Very good beer. Thank you William the Dr B. I know the score is worth much higher but tonight I’m working on my bell curve. 😂 Everything tonight gets a 3.25, unless it’s a Boulevard Brewing Co Ginger Lemon Radler, I’ll go against tonight’s rule with 0.25

Oops. Almost forgot to check it in. Sweet caramel taste with a bitter finish.

Not normally a fan of barley wines but this was the best I’ve had. Still probably wouldn’t purchase it again. Had the maltiness of a quad and the bitterness of an IPA.

I’m not very familiar with barleywines, but this one is very bitter.

Dark pour, like a dark plum or night sky. Medium to large head. Smells of alcohol and a toasty smell. Very bitter flavor with toasted malt notes. Despite motley 75 IBU it tastes way more bitter. Warming and interesting ipa alternative.

Decent, but it would be better for me with a little less hop.

Hoppy barleywine. Bright, but the barley clashes with the hops

Nailed it on style. Slight bitter on finish and lots of roasted oak malt flavor. Great sipping beer that isn’t too complex but still makes you think.
