Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2017)

Stout - Imperial / Double Coffee

What we’ve got here is an imperial stout brewed with a massive amount of coffee and chocolates, then cave-aged in oak bourbon barrels for an entire year to make sure wonderful bourbon undertones come through in the finish. Makes your taste buds squeal with delight.

Thick, swampy, syrupy, sewery, gloppy bastard of a liquid. Nutty, earthy, espresso coffee, dark chocolate, bourbony, dark fruits, tar, retirement home ashtray. Coalminer's filthy hands at the finish. Gorefest.

While once this was a 4.75...the competition makes it hard to maintain! Thats a challenge Founders, show me a BA stout that is worthy!

Really nice and mellow now. This is the Kentucky BA Bourbon Stout. The Bourbon hitting really mellow on the tongue. Dangerously drinkable even at 11.9%

Cellar shelf turd. Good, but not nearly as good as when it was fresh.

Veel dunner dan ik me van andere jaargangen herinner, maar nog steeds de bekende koffie/choco/bourbon smaak.

Graduation collection. Held up better than the BCBS did. Sad that this beer isn't a yearly release anymore

De keuze van Jasper was een stuk beter. Goed in bourbon met een heel lichte veroudering, maar absoluut niet portig. Koffie en bittere chocolade.

Best of the vertical for me. Bitterness is gone; mellowed-out coffee and chocolate remain. Impressed at how good this is 6+ years after release.

It was a 5 six years ago and it's a 5 today. So smooth and easy drinking. Coffee and chocolate has held up really well in cold storage. Absolutely superb and delicious.

Bit 'o stout. Bit 'o hurling. Nice combo. Level at the half. The stout remains pretty much the epitome.

Okay, this grand. Yet, this is as aged as it may allow. I have a few left. Debating if I should just drink the 2017 bottles this spring.

Adjuncts did not survive 7 years in a bottle. A very tasty imperial stout that still retains a hint of barrel, but absolutely should not have been aged this long. 5/7 with rice
