Velvet Rush

Brown Ale - Imperial / Double

Borrowing elements from both high-end craft cocktails and moody jazz clubs, Velvet Rush takes the bourbon barrel-aged brown ale up an octave with free-flowing notes of coffee, chocolate and vanilla extract. Milk sugar aids in weaving together this complex tapestry of flavors to create a unique sipping experience that really ties the room together.

This was pretty good, I'm not usually a fan of brown ales but this really didn't taste like a brown to me.

Kinda busy for a brown...drinks more like a stout or porter. Very complex, nice sipper...great flavor...no bite. Well done, but they killed what makes a brown a brown.

I suggest you try RYE BARREL AGED BROWN ALE (no coffee, chocolate nor vanilla needed). That’s a party in your mouth.

Way more coffee than I would have guessed from the description. I didn’t mind, but it could be a reasonable annoyance. Also a bit thinner-feeling than expected for the ABV. Again, not a nuisance but slightly disappointing.

Coffee and chocolate stand out. Not much vanilla or milk sugar which would nicely balance out the bitterness of the finish.

Strong coffee smell and taste. I’m not picking up the chocolate or vanilla. A little bourbon undertones.

Lots of coffee with the nut brown ale. Slight bourbon flavor but could use a bit more.

Vanilla coffee on the nose. A smooth combination of vanilla, coffee, and brown maltiness really ties the room together.
