Frootwood

Fruit Beer

We took a crisp, light-bodied cherry ale and hid it away in oak barrels that have held both bourbon and maple syrup. After a lengthy stint, it emerged a changed beer, blanketed in notes of warm vanilla and earthy sweetness. The wood proves itself the star of this beer, adding depth and taming the tart cherry while the maple imposes a velvety texture that lingers for not a moment too long.

The maple and cherry are contrasting versions of sweetness which ends up being too much. Hala Madrid!

Sweet. Get malty out of it. Candy. Pecan. Weird. I was expecting dry and woody.

I loove this. Never heard of maple syrup bourbon barrels bear but yes yes yes. Paired with cherry which I love and this I could pour on pancakes. So different and just great.

Just a little too sweet. As beer warms becomes less sweet and slightly more tart.

Nice cherry and maple notes. Very unique and solid, but wouldn’t drink more than 6oz of this so glad I split it 😎

Bourbon, cherry, and maple play nicely together.

On the nose, this is dark berries and malt. The mouth feel is a little viscous, without being thick. The initial flavor is all cherries, then the bourbon and chocolate come in to balance the tartness very deliberately.

Very easy to drink For a barrel aged beer. Also very easy to drink considering it’s cherry. I actually liked it quite a bit. Not a style I would typically choose but I think it was very well done.

Leuk bier. Doorschijnend rood/paars met mooi wit schuim. Frisse kers, gezoet door de esdoornsiroop. Bourbon haal ik er niet uit. Wel het eikenhout van het vat. Licht zuur/rins, niet té zoet, (tannine)bittertje. Lekker!

Maybe I've become accustomed to Founders beers being BIG. This 8% ABV light colored ale is refreshing although far from what I expected from a maple syrup bourbon barrel-aged ale. Rich in flavor without being heavy.
