Stout - Imperial / Double Coffee

This beer taught us that patience truly is a virtue. KBS is a big imperial stout brewed with a massive amount of coffee and chocolate and then bourbon barrel-aged to perfection. Incredibly silky and full-bodied with notes of vanilla, cocoa, roasted coffee and charred oak.

This weekā€™s version of Game Day brunch. Not going to the game for the first time in years šŸ˜¢. Just like CBS, I held off on trying this b/c of the coffee. But itā€™s really good. Nice balance... sweet, roasty, touch of bourbon.

In keeping up with my Stout kick, KBS come in dark and heavy at a boozy 8.2%. Unlike other stouts, the front starts off w/ a heavy roast like a fresh morning coffee. A deep, slightly bitter dark chocolate is next with an oatmeal center. Boozy, bitter end.

Wow, this packs a punch. First but was a little too much. But after a bit the flavors really come out. Very rich chocolate and coffee and a lingering aftertaste. Great beer for a steak dinner.

Aged 2 years. Intense unsweetened chocolate up front with some bourbon that lingers. I donā€™t taste much coffee. Not in the same league as CBS for smoothness or palate diversity, but still really good for a Friday evening treat.
