Pure gold! Fresh apricot in the nose. Really tart. Extremely fresh for three years old. Wow!

Utopias Barrel-Aged 120 Minute IPA Alexeff
Medium amber w/ significant chill haze. Darker & infinitely more complex than 120 Minute IPA, w/ rich caramel malt nose. So much less bitter. I get a Gran Marnier booziness w/ curaçao-like orange. I had to take a taste of 2021 Utopias for comparison.

Wake Up World Wide Stout Alexeff
11th out of EBB: Big Stouts. Straight up brown with a medium tan head. Subtle coffee aroma with some sweetness and a touch of alcohol. Dark roast, black coffee, almost enough sweetness to pull it together. A little alcohol heat, but not at all 15%. Nice!

Deep amber. Really does smell remarkably like French Toast. Tastes about as close as you can get, in a beer, too. Remarkable maple, amazing cinnamon, with a toasted bread malt in the background. Almost perfect, but I just can’t go 5.00.

Bruocsella 1900 Grand Cru Alexeff
Pale gold color. Flat. Served slightly above cellar temperature. Very mellow flavor with a very manageable lactic sour, hints of oak and an almost a coconut meatiness. Mouthwatering.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa Alexeff
Interesting… I didn’t get the cocoa all that much. I got an almost tobacco flavor on the front end. Hints of vanilla come through. Not bad, but not as good as the OG.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Alexeff
Bartender “guessed” at what I wanted next. OK. She was nice enough and I wanted to post this picture with the Ohio breweries I could find in this collage of stickers.

The barrel aging is subtle with hints of oak and Scotch whiskey on top of a milder peat and smoke malt bill. Nice balance between sweet malts and a little bitterness. Not boozy at all.

Utopias Barrel - Aged World Wide Stout (2021) Alexeff
Extreme Beer Box 2022. Doing a side-by-side with Utopias and BBA WWS with my B.I.L. Fitting fare for Super Bowl Sunday. A little dryer than the standard BBA WWS. Does pick up a little bit of the Utopias character. Special experience.

WOW! Their description is spot on. Oak IS the spotlight, with a hint of bourbon in the background. There is a touch of sweetness. And the sour cherry IS moderated beautifully, with a huge depth of character. A unique and enjoyable elixir.

Oude Geuze Boon à l'Ancienne - VAT 92 Mono Blend Alexeff
Brewed 11/16/14, bottled 12/16/16. Very mild funk in the nose, with just a hint of wood. Mild earthy flavor. Not too acidic and not fruity at all. Very mild sour. May be a little past prime.

Hmmmm. I get some licorice, a little overripe plum, and just a touch of soy sauce in the nose. A little wet cardboard and a whole lot of bitterness on the palate. Not a fave (understatement).

I can’t rate this as a Golden Ale. It’s closer to a Moscow Mule. The aroma is flowery ginger. And there’s a good bit of ginger heat on the palate. But I also get the rum and some fruitiness from the guava. Absolutely uniquely wonderful.

Bees In the Peach Trees Braggot Alexeff
Interesting. I get a distinct nutty aroma and flavor with a good bit of spice. Not really getting much peach, other than a considerable sweetness. Not cloying, but close. Just OK for me.

A raspberry delight. Perfect balance of sweet and tart. I was tempted to guzzle it down like soda pop. But you know it’s still a beer. Outstanding!

The first whiff was pinecone, but that dissipated into a good deal of malty sweetness. Beautiful pale amber color (SRM=8?). A whole lot of pine tar bitterness, but with enough malt backbone to offset it enough for me to appreciate it. Excellent WCIPA.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) Alexeff
I don’t know how BBE finds these discontinued or one-of-a-kind beers in a keg without them being past prime. But this tastes just like the 2019 bottle, which was the last vintage released, that I had last year.

Definitely past prime. No fresh fruit flavor at all. Foamy mouthfeel. Moderately lactic sour. Overripe flavor. Chris Lieb was trying to empty out his fridge on this one.

Aroma is more malty than fruity. Color is deep amber to purple, depending on the lighting / angle. Flavor profile is plumb brandy, a little Shiraz, and a touch of blackberry at the end. Surprisingly no alcohol burn at 18% ABV.

This week’s version of Game Day brunch. Not going to the game for the first time in years 😢. Just like CBS, I held off on trying this b/c of the coffee. But it’s really good. Nice balance... sweet, roasty, touch of bourbon.

BOD 12/4/2017, but the bottle says 2014 vintage. Nice, balanced acidity with plenty of fruity flavors. Really enjoyed it!
