Backwoods Bastard

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts, a bit of earthy spice and a scintilla of dark fruit. It’s a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate. Distribution Note: Now available year-round beginning April of 2018.

Hoppy and a little caramel maybe but still some harshness.

Ironically this brew was bought at Jungle Jim's in Cincinnati after the day before being in Grand Rapids MI. This brew presents with a sweet malty bourbon and chocolate flavor profile. While high ABV there is zero alcohol byproduct.

Good beer overall, but I was caught off guard by the overwhelming chocolate milk taste. Would have this again if someone else is buying 😂. Pricey 💵!

Def stout. Gotta chew it a little. When my beer gets to 11% I might as well drink bourbon.

The flavor of this is delicious but man an 11% beer is just a punch to the mouth kinda strong. Still a great addition to the flight but would pass on this in most cases outside of trying sumn new. The guy also looks like Gandalf +.25 for that

Not my favorite - a little too much bourbon character with minimal residual sweetness to back it up. Was interested to try - thanks for sharing Steve!

Notes of vanilla and crayons. Going to make me yell at Creagh and Niyazov…Jeff G. They’re being mean to me.

This beer has a ton of depth, but it’s too sweet for me. It’s almost syrupy. Awesome flavors, beautiful color, but not my type.
