Mahogany color with a slight deep red tint. Smells of bourbon barrel, booze, and stone fruit. Taste follows the nose with a lightly bitter finish and a warming sensation that follows. Medium to heavy bodied with light carbonation. Excellent scotch ale.

Not had this since '95 from Fulford bottle shop RIP. Rich fruity dark malt, sweet caramel & bourbon barrel. Nothing backwards about this beauty. 👌🍺🇺🇲

Front forward malty, smoky flavor. Smooth tasting, finishes with a hint of bourbon. Recommend!

Amazingly sweet, boozy, whiskey barrel aroma! Lots of flavor! Thick, boozy malt with some smoky (almost peaty) notes.😋 Finishes a little bitter, but still with some lingering malty bourbon.

Quite sweet, though it may be because of my food. Pretty good.

Smells way too much like some whiskey I drank in high school, really wasn’t terrible, just not upfront too much with whiskey flavor.

A very strong and bold body to this sweet malt. I may be moving off IPAs now as a result of Founders 😂

Today’s happy moment is brought to me by Mara’s grilled oysters and Founders Backwoods Bastard a boozy scotch ale! Delicious and heavenly!

One of my top 5 beers of all time. Barrel flavored greatness.

Meh, ok. Just didn’t seem to have a “taste” until the end. It was like it tried to hit you hard with the oak barrel/scotch but nothing else. At the end is when it seemed to blend everything.
