Palo Santo Marron

Brown Ale - Imperial / Double

An unfiltered, unfettered, unprecedented brown ale aged in handmade wooden brewing vessels. The caramel and vanilla complexity unique to this beer comes from the exotic Paraguayan Palo Santo wood from which these tanks were crafted. Palo Santo means "holy tree" and its wood has been used in South American wine-making communities.

Aged for 2 years. Has mellowed out some, but is still a little too harsh for my liking. The woody taste from the barrels really comes through here and overshadows the vanilla and caramel flavors. The last one will be had next March to see if it improves.

Tastes like wood, the booze taste certainly died down, and so did most of the flavor. Still good for a 12% beer. Not sure how this is considered a brown ale as lit pours nearly black, but hey what do I know… this bottle is a little over 5 years old.

Been in our cellar since 2018. Damn tasty. Having a toast in memory of the pictured good boy, Austin. 3 years, feels like yesterday.

My kind of beer. Heavy, boozy, coffee and dark. This is definitely not a summer beer, it’s a sipper…

Very strong but sweet. Boozy too which is good. I know this a rare beer that hasn’t been out in about 10 years. Cheers

I keep forgetting how good this is. It's like I doubt my memory of the last time I thought it was so good. Probably because it's so different that it doesn't scratch a particular itch. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Gotta be one of the best widely available year round brews.
