Raison D'Extra

Belgian Strong Dark Ale

A bigger, bolder version of our Raison D'Etre. This is a bulbous brown ale brewed with a bunch of malt, brown sugar and raisins.

The booze is very strong. I’ve had some this style that are smoother but higher abv. Maybe if it aged even more?

There's a strong raisin sweetness at the end but in between the light malt beginning and that finish there's this OBSCENE earthy flavor that doesn't sit well for me. Not for me I guess.

Fruity, boozy, malty, and sweet. Drinks like a barrel-aged brew. Would be great for sitting in front of a fire on a chilly night.

Was expecting it to be a little sweeter, because of the brown sugar. It was a bit dry on the finsh

I wasn't sure at first, but then it gave me a dark beer version of Quaker Instant Oatmeal and I felt nostalgic for this flavor profile

Holy smokes! Bottled 12/18. Says "ages well" on the bottle. A few floaters upon pouring. This one catches up to you. Raisin bomb. Crystalized sugar, molasses, madeira. Alcohol is well integrated. This was better after warming up.

Boozy, raisiny, malty, and sweet. Oh, and did I mention boozy? This one is better a bit warmer than the 40F coming out of the fridge.

Slightly sour nose with some raisin notes. Hazy reddish/brown colour. Pale brown head. Sweet madeira like taste. Hoppy bitterness. Varming alcohol. RB 2009
