Siracusa Nera

Stout - Russian Imperial

Combining a roasty Imperial Stout with jammy Syrah wine notes, this beer is bold and complex. Notes of coffee, dark chocolate and anise from a blend of roasted malts meld with flavors of plums, cherries and stewed fruits from Syrah grape must in this jet black stout. Aged on American oak to add some light toasty vanilla to the mix.

Liking it a bit more than the last time I tried it. Picking up the grape flavor a bit more.

Pairs ok with chili. Tastes like stout with some wine poured in.

Aged two years. Not sure how much I can discern that fact. I guess I’d have to try side by side. The grape must still makes a lovely appearance. Balanced, lively and interesting. An excellent, unique RIS both fresh and aged.

Definitely should let this sit after pouring and warm up a bit.. strong flavored. Good beer if this is your style.

I went out in single digit weather this morning to get a Covid test, so I deserve an imperial stout at 3pm.

That aroma is funky with the grapes added to coffee and oak. I like it. Super thick. It plays like a regular Russian stout but the grapes add a layer of sour complexity. A bit smoky in the middle and warming. Finish is boozy. Pair with filet mignon

CRYING because it’s my last one. And at just over 3 years old, it’s just as good...if not better than I remember. 😭🍇

Breaking into the vault today. This is from July ‘18. The cherry notes on the finish have gotten more tart but that smoothness is still there and even more than I remember.

Me la tomé después de la Qoris, y qué sabor tiene! Mezcla de café con un toque dulzón por las uvas y el estar macerado en roble.

Reminiscent of a port wine with a chocolate/coffee forward. Pretty decent.

3 years cellared. Somehow didn't have this one checked in the last few years. Sweet and a little syrupy with heavy grape/wine notes. Not as good as it was fresher.

Crisp and smooth. Deep, sweet roastiness. Coffee and dark chocolate flavors with the faintest notes of grape. Excellent brew to close out 2020.

From 1/10. Feel like I enjoyed this much more previously. Seemed rather harsh this time around. The stout up front & the grape on the end didn't seem to flow or complement each other.

Chocolate wine. Pretty good. No detectable oak notes (woot!) and nice little pop of flavor up front. Stone fruit and chocolate

It is definitely a stout but is very thin. Coffee, and a little bit of chocolate.
