Oak-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout

Stout - Imperial / Double

Brewed with a ridiculous amount of barley, we've now taken this Dogfish Head classic and aged it on oak with real vanilla beans! With a little tender love and care we foster this beer from smooth, sweet wort into the big, bad blackend stout it always longed to be. Its bold, port-like complexity goes great with (or as) dessert.

Bottled 8.28.18 Smooth with some alcoholic warmth. Vanilla and oak have faded into the roast. No oaky astringency at all. Delicious.

May have aged this too long - the vanilla is muted. Still a solid stout otherwise.

Aged this one for several years. Very smooth, vanilla is subtle, roasty malt finish. Real nice.

Been wanting to try this for awhile. It's SO boozy. Don't taste much vanilla. It's good though. But isn't as good as I might've hoped it would be. Booze bomb

It was hot but good. My bottle was from 2017. I could see letting it wait another year or two to mellow. Still good 4 years later.

Over two years old, so the vanilla is nowhere near what it was, as expected. On top of that, the base beer is also losing its initial edge, which is a good thing. Wonder if at 4 or 5 years, you'd be able to tell the difference between this and normal WWS.

Ah, this has aged nicely! Dark mahogany with a hint of ruby when back-lit. Wafting hints of vanilla and oak on the nose. Rich chocolate and roasty front with a smidge of tannins in the middle and finish. 2017 was a year where I needed this lovely beer!

DogFish released some of these bad boys back on the market - It was bottled on 07/27/17, they day I interview to move out to Fort Collins. It’s holding up well, must be drank at 58-62 degrees, the oak and vanilla really come out at that temp; cheers 🍻

Only can be taken a sip at a time, vanilla and chocolate-y flavors come through with am obvious alcohol presence. Gets extra points for ability to get beer flavors to work at such a high ABV and overall uniqueness because of that. A *very* strong drink.
