Utopias Barrel-Aged 120 Minute IPA

IPA - American

The Holy Grail for hopheads, 120 Minute IPA is continuously hopped with a copious amount of high-alpha American hops throughout the boil and whirlpool, aged in Sam Adams Utopias barrels for a full twelve months, and then abundantly dry-hopped.

Tonight is a night for celebrating and that requires a special beer.

The barrel aging does a great job mellowing the harshness of traditional 120.

Stoned brandy and Cognac with golden raisins, toffee and raw coffee beans with whiskey barrel. Holy sheet! Hoping they have more for sale tomorrow to get to friends.

Sweeter, more caramel than a usual 120.

Wasn't sure if this would work or not, but it's very delicious. Drinks a little like a barleywine. Very smooth and not nearly as boozy as you might expect.

Aw damn! Super heavy barrel flavor blocks out the IPA pine. So good.

Sweet, bourbon and hides the 17% really amazingly. Goosebumps on the arm and I dig it.

Very boozy, heavy toffee and caramel, extremely resinous, and sweet. Some citrusy hop character but it’s quickly overwhelmed by the heat and maltiness. This is very much a barleywine and it’s also excellent.

This is amazingly delicious! Smooth, boozy and loads of caramel richness. Thanks for your generosity, Dave. Fitting beer for our last night at the beach!
