Utopias Barrel-Aged 120 Minute IPA

IPA - American

The Holy Grail for hopheads, 120 Minute IPA is continuously hopped with a copious amount of high-alpha American hops throughout the boil and whirlpool, aged in Sam Adams Utopias barrels for a full twelve months, and then abundantly dry-hopped.

Surprised the Utopious barrel makes a significant impact. Richer and even more complex than the original 120. This has a year of age on it, which is nice. The alcohol is very well integrated. It tastes big but not 17%.

Don’t let that 120 IBU scare you off, bc this is one of the most smooth and opposite-of-bitter but boozy beers I’ve ever sipped. Let it coat your tongue to experience the vast spectrum of complex flavors the rarity has to offer!

Aroma of a dark fruit. Rich, caramel. But! Boozy. Interesting! to say the least. Not much hop bitterness. Put it plainly! This is delicious and warming. One of a kind. Would have again. Hesitant to say. But almost barelywine.

Had this aged over 2 years. Boozy, yes, but not as much as I expected. Great flavor and barrel.

Incredible. Strong barrel aged flavor that hits the nose and tongue like a wrecking ball. Is it really an IPA at this point or a borderline barley wine at 17%? Almost tastes like a stout. Fantastic. One of the best beers I've ever had. So rich and yummy.

Insanely good. Super rich with intense barrel aged flavors. Very light hop after taste. Probably one of the best beers I’ve had. Not so much IPA, but so damn good. Close too a 5 but I just can’t justify it. Unreal beer

Pours murky brown w/ off-white head. Caramel aroma. Boozy, bourbon, dark fruits, subtle cherry/orange (similar to an old fashioned), caramel. Syrupy. Warming. Complex.

It's a hoppy barleywine with a great balance of sweet candi syrup and date with piney bitterness. Can happily sip this all night. R.I.P. Kraig's.

First 2 hours I've had to myself in I don't know how long. That's worth celebrating. A solid beer and the original RoboCop (Unrated). Both get better every time.

So sweet, flavorful, and drinkable. The best variant of one of my all-time favorites. Boozy, barley-wine character. A perfect 5 beer. #AnalogAGoGo2020
