World Wide Stout (2007)

Stout - Imperial / Double

Dogfish Head started in June 1995 when the Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats was established in the beach community of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Dogfish Head was the first brewpub of the state. The original plan to deliver great music, delicious food and fine beers to the community came to life when the first batch of Shelter Pale Ale beers were started. Soon, Dogfish Head engaged in brewing 12 gallons of beer batches to supply the restaurant’s need. Dogfish Head brewery quickly achieved popularity beyond the state and reaches to nearby areas like Philadelphia and Washington D.C. By 2000, Dogfish Head is selling over 20 types of beers to more than 25 states.

This is drinking pretty great for a 17 year old brew. There are still tiny bubbles of carbonation. The fruit feels pushed back at this point and that salty umani is coming through and it tingles the tounge. It's past it's prime, but enjoyable

16 year old bottle. Pours night black with little to no carbonation. Sits flat. Noses chocolate and espresso with cherry and dark fruits. Tastes smoother than I want. It is very boozy still. The age edges off the malt more than it does the alcohol.

Definitely declining heavy sherry and cardboard flavors present.

Couldn't get a good picture of the bottling date. I'm amazed. This has matured beautifully. It's mellow, harmonious, and surprisingly smooth in spite of its considerable alcohol presence. I've enjoyed only a small handful of stouts more.
