Raison D'Extra (2014)

Belgian Strong Dark Ale

Our popular Raison D'Etre, with a little extra. This immodest brew, made with an obscene amount of malt, brown sugar and raisins, takes Belgian-style browns to new heights. See more at: http://www.dogfish.com/brews-spirits/the-brews/on-hiatus-brews/raison-dextra.htm

Big booziness in the nose. Sip is light malt w bigtime raisin notes in the finish. Finish is very dry w a big shot of booziness. Def seems a bit thinner and boozier than I remember. Maybe aged a bit too long. Still a solid Belgian & smooth for massive ABV

Lots of yucks in the crowd. Age maybe isn’t beauty.

2014 - definitely past it’s prime - flavors are muted and not really taking me anywhere - the more recent years I’ve had of this were much better

Straight raisins. Super strong nose… I really appreciate this beer although I can’t say that I like it.

Bottled 11/21/14. I don't know if fresher would be better but this example isn't quite for me.

This is drinkable but not sure it’s worth it at this abv. Plus I think I’ll hate it the more I drink this. It’s turned into this port-like drink and it’s almost too sweet

The most powerful “on the nose” beer I’ve had. Oldest beer ever drank. Not sure how to rate this. Cheers to Ralph E. For sharing this interesting brew.
