Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2017) Potenski

This holds up. Really tasty beer w a ton of smooth maple flavor. A tad thinnner than a lot of pastry stouts but brings super clean flavor. Good roast, mild coffee and big bourbon tinged maple flavor. Sweet but not overly so. Surprised w how this held up.

Fou' Foune (2015) Potenski

Ghost Hawk Anny. This is always a delicious lambic. Apricots just go so well with the lambic profile. Tart fruit works into mild acidity in this beer. As you sip the lighter stonefruit flavors emerge from under the tart edge. This def hits the right notes

Czech 12 Potenski

Really clean and crisp Czech lager. Light malt profile. Hint of bread. Solid floral noble hop flavor w smooth but firm bitterness. Dry & crisp in the finish. Nothing earth shattering but just a really well made example of the style. Really drinkable pils

Kirsch the Sky Potenski

How could I not try this. Love Baltic porters, chocolate, and cherry. Nose has a light cherry essence. Sip has smooth malt w light roast note before a mild cherry finish. Smooth w vanilla. Would have liked a bit more chocolate but overall I am a big fan.

Brabantiæ (2019) Potenski

This was awesome. Cantillion makes amazing lambic as well all know. The port barrel finish really shines in this one. Light body w mild malt bill. Lovely vinous notes blended w a touch of oak spice. Mild tart finish. BA really gave this nice complexity

Classic Gueuze (2022) Potenski

A classic that never ceases to impress. Such a simple beer but this lambic crates so many subtle flavors to create a complex masterpiece. Light bodied. Dry w a solid tartness in the finish. Light stonefruit notes w a lightly spicy oak edge. Very tasty.

Nath (2021) Potenski

This was very good. Such a great expression of rhubarb. A really clean and full rhubarb flavor comes out of this lambic. Mildly tart flavor w a bit of a spicy finish. It pairs well w the mild tartness of the base lambic. Great use of the ingredient here.

Mamouche (2021) Potenski

This was very tasty. It had a really interesting spicy- almost peppery edge to it. Interesting flavor that could be from elderflowers & hops. Light malt bill gets out of the way & lets aromatics and sour flavors breathe. Mild acidity. Great complexity.

Raison D'Être Potenski

Bottle from 2002! Simply amazing how well this held up. Over 20years for an 8% beer. Nose was straight raisin which was follows up in the sip. Light dark sugar edge but this was like drinking a liquid raisin in the best way. Dark fruit explosion Very good

Utopias Barrel - Aged World Wide Stout (2021) Potenski

This is a pretty distinctive beer. The big, burley WW stout is a great palette for barrel aging. Using the Utopias barrels adds such a unique and recognizable flavor (if you have tried Utopias). Kind of a lightly boozy whisky type flavor that works w base

World Wide Stout (2014) Potenski

This aged really gracefully. Still a big, impactful brew. Massive roast to this deep, dark, rich espresso like notes. Still has a bit of a boozy kick to finish but way smoother than when fresh. A little dark fruit peeking out near the finish. Solid stout

Spildt Mælk (Boys Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk) Potenski

This was an interesting one. No adjuncts but a long boil add a lot of character to this imp milk stout. Roast had lot of chocolate/cocoa powder notes. Big dark fruit notes underneath, raisiny. Lactose was there but this didn’t go really sweet. Not bad

Geuze Mariage Parfait (2014) Potenski

Really solid traditional Gueze. Has a pretty complex profile. Pretty funky sour w mild acidity. Def brings a bunch of Brett barnyard type notes to the table. Not offensive or overbearing though. Drinks smooth for 8%. I enjoyed this lambic. Old school cool

Cuvée Saint-Gilloise 2021 Potenski

Really nice sour beer. Interesting nose w lightly floral hop note & mild funk. Light bodied brew w soft malt bill. I really like the hop element here. Light floral noble hop character adds depth to complex sour profile. Mild acidity w some funk in finish

Framboise Boon (2014) Potenski

Thus was way sweeter than I expected. Especially for the age. Huge raspberry flavor that po pop a w the residual sweetness of finish. Not getting much tart/sour out if this at all. Seems like berry purée in a light beer base. Not bad just flat flavor.

Kriek 100% Lambic Bio (2021) Potenski

Solid sour w mild cherry notes in the finish. Light tartness in the finish w mild acidity. Fairly dry. Was a little surprised that the cherry is so mild in this. Not a bad beer at all but less flavor impact than I expected from fruit. Still a smooth sour

Gueuze (2021) Potenski

It’s the base model but it’s still a Cantillion. Solid sour ale. Has light malt profile w lemony notes. Mild sour tartness in the finish. Really solid wild ale. Always enjoyable. Mild and smooth. Light but decent complexity. Not bad at all.

Wake Up World Wide Stout Potenski

Big green pepper nose. Really solid roast up front but coffee note goes to green pepper in sip. Not much maple flavor but has some mild cinnamon towards the end. Hides the massive abv well. Wanted to like this more. Coffee turning to pepper was an issue.

Saint Lamvinus 2020 Potenski

I love how every time I have a Cantillon it just perfectly defines what I think a sour should be. This one is no different. Light malt bill leads to tart vinous notes before smoothly funky but dry finish. Acidity is spot on to heighten the fruit flavor

Tru-Action IPA Potenski

Solid more west coast ipa. Good malt profile w a bit of rye. Hop profile has a decent shot of bitterness w solid citrus & dank notes. Overall a little old school but pretty solid. Not bad

KBS Hazelnut Potenski

Was mildly disappointed with this. Def has some hazelnut flavor but Def drinks a bit thinner than other KBS beers I have had. Bourbon note is mild and the hazelnut Def brings some astringency in the finish. Not a bad beer but expected more from a variant

Lou Pepe Framboise (2012) Potenski

Simply amazing that this beer is ten years old and tastes this good. Def a nice bouquet of raspberry paired w a light funk. Sip has solid raspberry flavor w a nice combo of light tart acidity, mild funk, & some wood notes. Tasty -great depth to the sip

KBS Espresso Potenski

This was pretty good actually. I always thought base KBS was very Barrel forward w light coffee. Thus brings the coffee to the forefront in a nice way. Good roast. Solid barrel finish. Guys all the right notes and balances coffee w the big bourbon notes

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge Potenski

Huge chocolate nose on this. Sip is roasty malt followed by big chocolate notes and finish is sweet maple w a touch of bourbon barrel. A ton of flavor in this. BA notes are mild but present. Fudgey/chocolate notes dominate this beer in a good way. Tasty

75 Minute IPA (2015) Potenski

Smooth as hell. Nose is malty - almost Burton Baton. Sip is malty but smooth. Mild sweetness in the finish. Sips like a smooth aged barleywine as it should. No real maple flavor but overall is really enjoyable and hides abv really well. Good stuff

Fou' Foune (2019) Potenski

Very simply one of the best spontaneous fermentation beers I have ever had. Complexity and tartness w the beautiful bright apricot notes that work perfectly w the base beer. Cantillon is always good but this one may be one of their best. Delicious

Raison D'Extra (2014) Potenski

Big booziness in the nose. Sip is light malt w bigtime raisin notes in the finish. Finish is very dry w a big shot of booziness. Def seems a bit thinner and boozier than I remember. Maybe aged a bit too long. Still a solid Belgian & smooth for massive ABV
