Rosé de Gambrinus (2016) Aronson

Indescribably complex nose. Hits like a smelling salt with yeast and acid and oxidation. Eventually it settles and more floral notes arrive. Would’ve expected way more acid, it’s actually quite mild and bitter by now. Very tannic, good amount of oxidation

Kriek Boon (2018) Aronson

Super straightforward. Incredibly sweet. Smells like cherry syrup, tastes like cherry cola. Very little acidity, very light carb. Just not all that complex.

Rosé de Gambrinus (2021) Aronson

Super floral and sweet nose, like cherry blossom. Lively carbonation and strong acidity, probably the strongest I’ve had in any vintage. Not too funky, but very tannic.

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2018) Aronson

Great as always, drinking fresh, touch of sherry vinegar, not too funky, nor dry, a bit mushroomy and nicely acidic.

Oude Geuze Boon à l'Ancienne - VAT 109 Mono Blend Aronson

Super oaky and mushroomy, very low acidity for a gueuze. Bright aged hop flavor, a bit of lightstruck aroma, and for emphasis, so much oak. Wonder how long this was aged for, feels like a long time. Dry, super fine carbonation

Backwoods Bastard 2021 Aronson

Sweet vanilla and bourbon on the nose. Blended into barrel aged oblivion, not too spiritous, big tootsie roll and roasted coffee flavor, and a fair amount of hoppiness coming through which is surprising but nice.

Oude Geuze Boon à l'Ancienne - Vat 77 Mono Blend Aronson

One of the woodiest, booziest geuzes I can recall trying. Almost the esters of a Belgian tripel, spice and sweet honey. Light acidity and horse blanket, cool to try an unblended geuze though it’s rather sweet, could benefit from more acidity.

Oude Kriek Boon (2003) Aronson

Oh man this has aged phenomenally. Still a touch of carbonation, well developed acidity, deep dank horse blanket, and really funky aged hop cheesy characteristics. The cherry is deep, juicy, and full bodied, a bit of pit contact vanilla and almond. 4.6

Geuze Boon Sélection Aronson

Idk what the hate is about, this is aging spectacularly. Huge hop cheese flavor, green apple and brandy, a little bit of lemon zest. I’d drink this every day if I could.

Geuze Mariage Parfait (2011) Aronson

Mmmm most carbonation and acidity is gone, and funk, dust, and musk have taken over. Massive green apple and caramel, deeply bacterial, yeasty, with some damp cardboard. Good for 10 years old!

Fou' Foune (2013) Aronson

I think this still wins the apricot battle in my book. Less fresh, more mineral, spice, and funk. Tart with vanilla and cinnamon, less precise apricot flavor but more fermented stone fruit goodness. Dust, diacetyl, and rich oak. Slightly beyond its peak

Geuze Mariage Parfait (2014) Aronson

This year is solid and with enough age it’s gotten nice. Definitely dulled in certain ways, but it still has great acidity and a nice blend of cheesy funk, dry toasted oak, and even some maltiness. I feel like I get stone fruit too

Kriek 100% Lambic Aronson

Kriek 7 (6 is WF ‘19 St. Thomas) but not the winner! It’s great and refreshing, juicy cherry without too much acidity. The nuttiest of them all, a bit of vanilla and almond and slightly bitter. No real funk to speak of and quite nice. Fun day!
