Based on the Zwanze that I missed, so I was extremely grateful to get a chance to try this. As always, cantillon shows its creativity in utilizing nontraditional ingredients - a pepper beer! Huge depth of flavor and goes down smooooth.

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2016) sherman
Always one that holds up with a few years in the cellar. Smooth as silk with a little spice mixed in too.

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio sherman
Easy to seek out the good bars by finding the ones with Cantillon on tap. Too early for the Sang Bleu but I’ll take what I can get.

My first beer at the new Veil is a Cantillon! The berries are nicely dry and acidic, and the signature light Cantillon funk makes this the typical tremendous Cantillon lambic.

Not too many rhubarb lambics out there, and of course Cantillon does it right.

Special bottle to celebrate some new opportunities for Jen S. They are not Belgian in nature, but let’s just say it’ll be pretty darn close.

Zwanze 2020 - Brettrave sherman
I said on the way to the fest to Jen S. I wasn’t sure if I would like a beetroot beer, and she said it might be nicely sweet and a good lambic complement. Nope! Bitter and off putting, just like beets.

Now this one is a fantastic beer for the day. Bright, hopeful, zesty, full of orange flavor. My favorite of the four Zwanzes I’ve had.

The classic white wine lambic. Very tasty, but Veil’s white wine saisons are every bit as good.

Cantillon’s nod to modern beer styles, I have a soft spot for this one. Really delicious.

Nice to strip out that hazy stuff occasionally and get some old school sweet, highly alcoholic ipa. Bracing, but good for ya.

Grand Cru Bruocsella Lambic Bio sherman
Taking advantage of the 3 day weekend to have our own mini Zwanze Day since the real thing is off the table this year. This beer’s rating must be in part to it being still, but I found it really delicious.
