Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) 2024

Pretty freaking good this year! Heavy on the coffee! Had this and CBS before heading off to Växjö Beer Festival last Saturday. Still haven't uploaded that backlog but I will.. soon..

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2023)

Quite boozy on the nose. Taste is bourbon and tobacco, dark chocolate and roast. Not overly mapley which I don't mind.

Kbs (2023)

This beer is always good. Some years are better than others but I really liked this iteration.

Beer Geek Breakfast

Heavy on the coffee which I like. A little underwhelming though. Still a nice drink.

Slice of Sunshine

First beer from Bad Seed Brewing! Peter the master of hoppets is the head brewer (been a massive fan for many years) and I have wanted to try their beer for a while. This is fucking fantastic. Beautiful WC. Ripe and piney. Initially smooth with a bitter

Kriek Boon (2022)

Haven't had a Boon kriek in ages! A pretty good beer. Not the greatest kriek in the world but definitely tasty.

Triple Two IPA

Understated IPA with a mellow body, bitter throughout and slightly floral. Orangey. Not bad but not incredible. Solid.

Bottle Shop Series Highball Drifter

Very bizarre. I like when breweries experiment like this. It kind of works but just a few mouthfuls was more than enough. Orange, malty, boozy, cinnamon.

Oude Geuze Boon Vat 16

Did a little tasting last weekend of the new Boon Vat-pack. Quite difficult to pick a favorite but they all tasted pretty good. I do think I have a favorite though but it wasn't this one. Cheers!

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2022)

Very nice indeed. I don't always love this as I think it varies quite a bit from year to year but this was nice. Quite heavy on the coffee and dark chocolate with a nice hit of bourbon. Smooth stuff.

Turn West

Love WC and this is a pretty nice attempt! Piney with that orange marmelade. Lovely bitter finish. Let's go!

Quite a bitter hazy. Not up to some of the other Gamma beer but again; nice enough!

Crit90

A fruity and slightly sweet IPA from To Øl. I've had beer from To Øl back in the day that was incredible. These days their higher ABV stuff tends to be great (especially barleywine) but the other stuff is hit or miss. Paired with contemporary hiphop.

Planetarisk Tåge

From Big Daddy Kane to (arguably) one of the best hiphop records ever made.. Paid in full. Rakim is one of my favorite rappers of all time. I don't know I just felt like doing some music shout outs with my check ins tonight. Beer is fruity and sweet.

45 Days Organic Pilsner

Very nice! Earthy, malty, both sweet and bitter, floral. Super delicate. A slight metallic edge brings the score down a bit though.

Chaaarge Nitro Dry Stout

Real nice! Roasty and dry. Some licorice. Crushable! Nitro can be hit or miss but I like it in this one. Super smooth!

Super decent lager. Light, malty, crushable. A slight peppery, citrusy bite. A touch of bitter hops as well. Cheers everyone!

A couple more forgotten beer from the past. I remember this being pretty nice. Like a sour but very light piña colada.

Transmodulate

Aroma is full on plastic with fruity hops. Taste is bitter orange peel, touch of sweet malts, citrus and a little more plastic. Body is pretty light and fluffy. Not as bad as I made it out to be but not amazing. #properglassware (bringing it back!). Ciao!

Liquid Confidence / Confidential

Super sweet upfront. Molasses, bittersweet chocolate and vanilla. No taste of the chillies. A slight chili burn in the aftertaste with a touch of booze. Quite low carb. Pretty dang nice albeit too sweet.

Oude Geuze Boon Black Label Edition N°5

I gotta say the first edition of this beer is completely different from later iterations and this is the worst one. Still a solid gueuze I guess. Super tame though. Not very sour at all, not very funky, not very.. anything. Easy drinking saison almost..

The Guide

Found this in the back of my fridge. I didn't realise they censored the label (thank you systembolaget, you absolute trash) and I have no idea why?? Anyway I decided to draw a different label (stole this idea from Mathias B.)

Kentucky Bourbon Stout (KBS) (2021)

KBS is always reliable. Huge bitter coffee and fruity bourbon notes with a slight soy edge. Dark chocolate and molasses as well but the coffee and bourbon are dominating. Smooth and quite creamy. Great beer as always.

Oude Geuze A L'Ancienne VAT 108bis Mono Blend (2018)

This is even better than I remember. Loads of fresh sparkling green apple, citrus, some bitter floral notes and some dusty blue cheese funk. Quite a lot of carbonation but not as much as Boon's regulars. Lovely slick body.

Oude Kriek Boon à L’Ancienne (2018)

This was pretty nice. Not the best iterations though. Quite bitter oddly enough. Other than that there's obvious almond/cherries with a slight tartness.

George Bourbon BA

Yes! Awesome! My expectations weren't huge becasause of some reviews. This is fantastic! Coffee, milk chocolate, bitter hops and cacao, fruity bourbon. Body is smooth as fucking shit. Not boozy but warming. LET'S GET IT!

Oude Geuze A L’Ancienne VAT 108bis Mono Blend

This was beautiful!! This series is fucking awesome. Lovely musty funk, citrus, dry wood, slight stone fruit thing with a sharp but pleasant acidity. Yum! Good thing I have another bottle stored away!

Frangelic Mountain Brown

Man, what a dope brown ale! Super hazelnut forward with some coffee present joined by a slight vanilla and chocolate thing going on. Body is smooth as hell. I think the coffee would have been even more present if I'd had this fresh. Cheers!
